Decorating for Real People in Real Homes

This is it – the ultimate workshop! One of the most storied and comprehensive curricula offered in the decorating industry, developed in 1999 by redecorating industry pioneer JoAnne Lenart-Weary.

In 2005 industry veteran Carol Bass added a fresh perspective to the course work with engaging visuals and Carol’s inimitable style (see what we mean in Testimonials). The result is a fun and informative class geared to the adult learner and the unique ways adults absorb information. You’ll receive two comprehensive textbooks to read at your leisure and a workbook that accompanies our classroom Power Point presentation.

There’s No Place Like Homes

In addition to lively classroom learning, you’ll apply what you learn in four real homes (we hate fake homes). This invaluable experience offers different decorating, redesign and staging challenges to give you a taste of what you’ll encounter in your business.

Real Estate Staging

We’ll use each home to discuss what you would do differently if you were staging the home for sale. Then we end the week with a live staging of a home that is to have an open house the next day. In this flat real estate market, staging is a much sought after service, as sellers vie for buyers. Talk about a business opportunity!

Our proprietary Action Scoring System for Staging will make you look like an experienced professional, even on your very first job. You will also learn the decorating fundamentals of color, placement, organizing and editing to create a show-worthy house.

Getting Down to Business

Have a better design sense than business acumen? No worries. We’ll teach you:

• Public relations
• Marketing
• Advertising
• Creating brand identity for your business
• Supplementary ways to add to your income

On our business day you will be given information on how to get your own website up and running at a cost you will find hard to beat anywhere else.

Continuing Education

We won’t leave you hanging. From home, your training and support continue with teleconferences, weekly newsletters, a message board and regular webinars available to our alumni only. Completion of this class also will qualify you to apply for distinction as a Certified Member of The Society of Decorating Professionals and Custom Home Furnishings Carol will upgrade her attendees’ paid Associate membership to a Certified membership, as well as testing fee.
